Ed
confirmed
that
things
that
soured
between
Aaron
and
his
family in
a
2017 New
York
Times interview,
explaining
that
the
issues
started
a “few
months”
after
he
began
dating
Olivia.
He
noted
that
Aaron
had
not
spoken
to
him,
his
brothers
or
his
mother Darla Rodgers since
2014,
adding, “Fame
can
change
things.”
But
Olivia
has
long
denied
that
her
relationship
with
Aaron
had
anything
to
do
with
his
estrangement
from
his
family.
As
she
told Andy
Cohen on his
Sirius
XM
show
in
2018, “He
hadn’t
spoken
to
the
parents
and
one
brother
for
like
eight
months
before
we
started
dating.”
In
fact,
the
44-year-old—who
is
now
married
to John
Mulaney,
with
whom
she
shares
on Malcolm,
2—said
she
actually
tried
to
encourage
Aaron
to
have
an “honest
conversation”
with
them. Recalling
that
it
seemed
to
work,
she
noted, “They
had
a
nice
conversation
and
then
they
started
coming
out
my
first
year
when
I
was
in
Green
Bay
in
2014.”
