Woman Scammed Out of $81,000 by AI Video of General Hospital Actor

How AI Videos of General Hospital’s Steve Burton Scammed Woman Out of More Than $81,000

One family is reeling after a shocking discovery.

The daughter of a woman who was scammed out of more than $81,000 after being sent AI-generated videos of General Hospital star Steve Burton shared insight into the devastating situation.

“I’m sickened by it because it went this far,” Vivian Ruvalcaba told KABC, which aired on Good Morning America Aug. 28. “Why didn’t I know this? Why didn’t I see what was happening? What did I miss?”

She noted that her mother Abigail is diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been in a manic episode during that time.

According to the police report obtained by GMA, Abigail had sent over $81,000 in prepaid gift cards, cash and bitcoin, as well as sold her condo for $350,000, after AI videos of Steve claiming that he had lost property during the Los Angeles wildfires earlier this year.

“In her head, there was no scammer,” Vivian emphasized. “She was talking to Steve Burton the entire time. Had I not intervened when I did, she was scheduled to send the scammer $70,000 out of that money.”
