New England Patriots Star Jahlani Tavai’s Wife Shares Loss of Baby

Jahlani Tavai‘s family is mourning a tremendous loss.

The New England Patriots linebacker’s wife Kalei Mau shared that she experienced a stillbirth six months into her pregnancy while in a medically-induced coma for six days.

“We were expecting to welcome her into our Ohana in March 2026,” the swimsuit model wrote in text over photos from her hospitalization in her Dec. 10 Instagram post. “But I got an extremely rare blood infection, and on November 20, I was placed in a medically induced coma after I was found unresponsive in my bed.”

“Unfortunately, with my organs failing and the sickness infecting my placenta, our baby passed away in my womb,” Kalei—who shares 13-month-old daughter Honua Tavai with the NFL player—continued. “Hours later, my body went into natural labor and Jahlani watched me deliver our baby unconscious.”

The 29-year-old revealed that she and Jahlani were planning to name her Ka ua Tavai, which means “the rain” in Olelo O Hawai’i. As she noted, “with Ka ua, everything grows.”
