The gunman wore a red shirt and grey shorts, and was seen wearing a black shirt, dark jumper and black sneakers, in the attack, police said.

He stood between 17 and 25 years old and had brown hair and a heavy build.

Police arrested Mr Keeshan at his home in the suburbs of Goulburn, South Australia, after he allegedly stole a mobile phone from his house.

He faces four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and eight counts of aggravated assault.

There were no injuries to police and paramedics were working at the scene on Friday, police spokeswoman Anne Twomey said.

“A significant amount of firearms were seized and the firearms officers are investigating.

“The victim’s family are attending an emergency unit.”

Keeshan has appeared in public as a man from Goulburn and in his family home in Sydney as a woman.

The other victims were his wife, mother-in-law and five-year-old daughter, police said.

Keeshan was aged 45, aged 41, 57 and 52, police said.
