Brazil’s
Flavia
Saraiva
isn’t
letting
this
setback
deter
her
performance.
After
the
gymnast
fell
during
warm
ups
at
the
all-around
team
finals
for
the
2024
Paris
Olympics,
she
continued
to
compete
in
the
July
30
competition
with
a
black
eye.
The
24-year-old
slipped
off
the
eight-foot
high
bar
while
practicing
her
routine
on
the
parallel
bars,
and
subsequently
kneed
herself
in
the
eye.
Although
her
right
eye
was
bandaged
and
significantly
bruised,
Flavia
managed
to
seamlessly
execute
her
routine
on
the
uneven
bars
for
the
actual
event.
(Also
representing
Brazil
are
Rebeca
Andrade,
Jade
Barbosa,
Lorrane
Oliveira
and
Julia
Soares.)
Many
fans
quickly
took
to
social
media
to
applaud
the
athlete
for
her
ability
to
shake
off
the
mishap.
“HUGE
shout-out
to
Flavia
Saraiva
of
Brazilian
Women’s
Gymnastics
team,”
one
fan
wrote
on
X,
formerly
known
as
Twitter,
“She
took
a
NASTY
spill
during
warmups
on
the
uneven
bars
and
is
still
out
here
putting
up
an
amazing
routine
in
competition.
She’s
a
different
kinda
star.”
Another
added,
“That’s
my
f–king
hero.”
