“This
is
what
I’d
wear
in
my
regular
life
if
I
was
going
out,”
the
New
Zealander
told
the
publication,
referring
to
the
blazer
she
had
on. “Except
definitely
with
sneakers
instead.”
Otherwise,
Sawai
added,
“I’m
glad
I
didn’t
change
into
my
sweatpants,
which
are
far
more
normal
for
me.”
But
when
dressing
up,
she
explained, “I
like
to
go
chic.
I
don’t
want
to
be
too
ladylike,
like
cutesy
or
sexy.
I
like
to
balance
it
out.”
Ahead
of
the
Met
Gala,
she
told
the New
York
Times, “The
Met
is
the
place
where
you
can
have
the
most
fun,
because
it’s
a
heightened
version
of
the
red
carpets
that
we
get
to
do.”
And
she
was
stoked
for
the
theme,
adding, “This
is
going
to
be
the
first
time
that
I’m
getting
to
kind
of
channel
my
androgynous
side.
And
I’m
really
excited
to
pay
respect
to
Black
dandyism.”
