Stephen Graham Shares How He Lost Golden Globe Trophy After Ceremony

This close call almost hit Stephen Graham like a thousand blows.

Indeed, the Adolescence star shared he nearly lost his Golden Globe trophy—which he won Best Male Actor for his role as Eddie Miller in the Netflix series—right after he left the Jan. 11 award ceremony

“I had to go straight from L.A. to Madrid because I had to be on set the next day,” Stephen, who co-created the limited series, revealed during his Jan. 19 interview on the Capital Breakfast radio show.  “I had like 35 minutes to catch the plane. It’s a next-level kind of thing. As I come off, a woman stood there with my name and she took me down the stairs, threw me in a car and drove me across the airport runway.”

Stunned by how quickly he was led towards the plane, the 52-year-old admitted he was worried his suitcase wasn’t “going to make it” on the flight with him.

“I went, ‘Excuse me, love? There’s no way you’re getting my suitcase on this plane if I’m in a car now,’” Stephen reflected of the conversation, “and she’s like, ‘Oh no, don’t worry. We’ll take care of it.’ I was like, ‘No, you don’t understand,’ and she went, ‘I promise you, I promise you.’ Anyway, it didn’t land.”
